About this trip
La Tatacoa lies in Villavieja, Huila. Although commonly called a desert, it is a tropical dry-forest landscape shaped by erosion. The Cuzco and Los Hoyos sectors offer different walks best organised with local support. Stargazing can complement your visit but depends on cloud cover and your chosen observatory’s operations. Transport and walks are coordinated according to your time and group’s needs.
How we can organise your visit
Villavieja and the dry landscape
Arrange access and visit logistics from town.
Cuzco or Los Hoyos
Choose which sectors to explore on foot and arrange local guidance.
Night-sky viewing, conditions permitting
Check observatory availability and cloud cover before confirming.
Getting there
The usual approach is from Neiva to Villavieja and then your chosen Tatacoa sector. Arrange local transfers before travelling.
