Cundinamarca
“High plains, salt heritage and mountain lakes”
Local identity
Cundinamarca offers savanna and páramo landscapes, salt-related heritage and towns such as Zipaquirá, Guatavita, Suesca and Guaduas.
Bogotá is Cundinamarca’s capital, although it has a separate administrative system. Zipaquirá is home to the Salt Cathedral; Lake Guatavita is in Sesquilé, not in Guatavita’s town centre. Suesca is known for its rocks and Guaduas for historic heritage. Check reservations, capacity and entry conditions for Chingaza and other protected areas.
Culture & traditions
Muisca heritage, rural highland crafts and a cuisine of traditional baked goods, soups and dairy products.
